Mario Badescu Skincare Routine: 6 Month Review

Good Morning! Today is the 3 month anniversary of! I just want to take a moment to thank my readers for your comments, feedback, and continued support. It truly means the world! ♥♥♥

This post has been a longgg time coming! The start of 2017 was also my 28th birthday, and I was very unhappy with my skin. Lots of texture, breakouts, and signs of aging seemed to become noticeable overnight. Instead of freaking out and causing even more stress on my skin, I started researching. After several weeks of reading product reviews and watching tutorials I landed on Mario Badescu skincare. This brand has been around for a long time, is affordable, and has impressive reviews so I went for it! Hey, anything was a step up from the basic Aveeno face wash and moisturizer I’d been using for years…

After browsing the MB section at my local Ulta, I ended up with the Anti Aging Regimen Kit. The kit includes 5 products: the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, Glycolic Acid Toner, Collagen Moisturizer SPF 15, Super Collagen Mask, and Glycolic Eye Cream – all for only $30.

I chose this set for two reasons, 1) the size of the bottles were small enough that I could use it for a month and see if I liked it without being out a lot of money, and 2) I wanted to focus primarily on preventing signs of aging. Mario Badescu offers several different starter kits: Acne, Anti-Aging, Brightening, and Combo/Oily – so there is something for everyone!

After a month of using this regimen, I noticed an improvement in my skins tone, texture, and fine lines seemed less noticeable. I was really happy with what I was seeing in such a short amount of time, so I purchased my next few items. For the past 6 months, I’ve been using the following 3 products AM and PM, religiously:

Step 1: Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel $14

I love the way this feels on my skin, like it’s really washing any any grime and makeup from the day. I also like that it isn’t foamy, and doesn’t leave any residue behind. I purchased the enzyme cleanser instead of the full-size Glycolic Foaming Cleanser because the Enzyme is better for daily use, and the Glycolic should only be used 2-3 times per week due to its strength. I still use the Glycolic cleanser from the starter kit 1-2 times a week (yes, that tiny bottle has lasted this long!)

Step 2: Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner $18

After cleansing and drying my face, I swipe a cotton ball of toner in downward and outward motions all over my face. I purchased the full-size of the starter kit toner because this was my favorite item in the kit! I had not used a toner on my skin before, and I think the benefits of chemical exfoliation far surpass and physical exfoliant I’ve used (like apricot scrub or sugar scrub).

Step 3: Mario Badescu Collagen Moisturizer SPF 15 $24

After toning, I apply a generous amount of moisturizer starting at the forehead and working my way around in small, light circles. I like to apply moisturizer right after toner when the skin is still slightly wet because I feel like it absorbs better. If you don’t like the feeling, wait about 30 seconds for the toner to dry before applying moisturizer.

(PM only): Mario Badescu Glycolic Eye Cream

After toning, I dab a small amount of the eye cream both under my eyes and above/below my brow bone. Start at the outer corner of your eye swiping toward the inner corner, then up and over your eyelid – Basically just draw a circle around your eye! Remember to apply this lightly – any pulling of this area of the skin can cause darkness or even more wrinkles! I personally prefer to only use this at night, but you can use it AM and PM if you like.

(Twice/week): Mario Badescu Strawberry Face Scrub

I mostly bought this because it has REAL strawberry seeds in it, which sounded awesome. It’s a very pearly/creamy scrub, and the seeds act as the scrubbing beads. I’m not 100% sure if I love this yet, because I don’t use it that often, but I’m going to stick with it.

(Twice/week): Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask

I can’t say enough about this mask!! It’s one of my all-time favorites, and I have a REAL obsession with face masks. The clay feels amazing on while purifying and refining my pores. I try to use this 1-2 times per week in between my other masks. I do a mask of some sort almost every day!

(Twice/Day: Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray  *Holy Grail Status!

I use this twice daily (or more!) as a makeup primer + setting spray + or just to freshen up when my skin is feeling lack-luster. This stuff is very inexpensive, and is AMAZING. I’ve gone through so many bottle of this, and don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

If you have been looking for a new skincare regimen I highly recommend Mario Badescu products. They have a ton of options, so if you’re overwhelmed or unsure where to start you can take their online skin analysis for product recommendations. The analysis is only as good as the information you provide, so be totally honest in your responses. Mario Badescu will mail you a 2-week supply of your recommended products for FREE, just pay $2.95 for shipping. I recently did this before a vacation just so I could take the mini size products on my trip. It worked out perfectly!

I hope this honest review helped you in some way, please let me know if you have any questions!

I’ve been looking for a new regimen – I’ve started to notice my makeup settling into some very UNsettling fine lines on my forehead and smile wrinkles. Given my insanely sensitive skin (even Cetaphil stings a bit), would you recommend this for me?

I definitely would! I have sensitive skin as well. If you take the skin analysis linked toward the bottom of the post, they will recommend the best products to try!
