How to Wear: Denim on Denim
Happy Tuesday! This post is a collaboration with my friend Chrisa, check out her denim styling tips at ChrisaTheGreek.blogspot.com – and be sure to follow her on Instagram @chrisathegreek
I just got back from a weekend in Denver, so fun! Per usual, I packed a ton of denim pieces, which led me to writing this blog post. SO many pieces now are denim or chambray (shirts, pants, shorts, skirts, jackets, dresses, and even hats!) With so many of us owning and wearing tons of denim, you probably run into some obstacles pairing these pieces together in a cohesive (non costume-y) way.
I’ve put together a quick check-list of Do’s and Don’ts for you, and added some photos for inspiration!
Denim on Denim Do’s and Don’ts
» Do: Incorporate different washes; choose a lighter wash top, and a darker wash bottom (or vice versa)
« Don’t: Choose the same wash for your top and bottom pieces. A matchy-matchy Canadian Tuxedo is not what we’re going for
» Do: Pair a distressed denim jacket with polished denim shorts, or destroyed denim jeans with a pressed chambray top
« Don’t: Wear a destroyed jacket and shorts, or a polished pair of jeans and a heavy pressed shirt
» Do: Only wear two pieces at a time
« Don’t – Wear a denim shirt, jeans, and hat at the same time. This is acceptable on the runway, but it looks costume-y for everyday
